Student Chaplains
What Is a Student Chaplain?
Student Chaplains (SCs) are student leaders who help create a welcoming, caring, and spiritually supportive campus community. Through presence, listening, leadership, and service, Student Chaplains support their peers’ personal growth—spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
As peer leaders, Student Chaplains offer pastoral support, help plan and support programs, and model compassion, integrity, and inclusion. They are trained to listen well, build relationships, and help create safe and brave spaces where all students feel seen and supported.
Students interested in serving as a Student Chaplain are encouraged to apply during the application window.
Applications Open: Friday, February 6, 2026

Programming
A core part of Student Chaplain programming is intentional presence and connection.
Residence Hall Presence
Student Chaplains spend 4–6 hours each week intentionally engaging with students in their residence halls. These hours focus on building relationships, listening, and responding to student needs—not just being on duty.
Additional Connection Hours
In addition to residence hall time, Student Chaplains serve 2–3 additional hours each week through Campus Christian Center programs, events, and shared spaces across campus.
All contact hours emphasize care, connection, and community.
Chill & Chat
Chill & Chat is held Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7– 11 in the Fireside Room (Draper Bldg.). Students can chat with friends in a comfortable living room atmosphere with drinks and snacks (and a warm fire when the weather turns cold). They can also use the space to study, play board/card games or simply to chill and relax.
